Opener

Opener is a new sport invented for NHK America’s TV show New York Wave in 2009. In the game, players wear a bicycle helmet with a hula hoop taped to the top. Players score points by throwing the ball through the hoop of a teammate in their Point Zone.

Point Zones are at the ends of the playing field (like an end zone in football). Only the player whose hoop the ball is thrown through must be in the end zone to score a point.
